Chandler grew from an agricultural town into one of the Valley’s largest cities in a few decades, and much of its housing was built during the 1990s and 2000s boom. Communities like Ocotillo and Fulton Ranch in south Chandler, along with many neighborhoods around the city’s tech corridor, are full of two-story stucco homes with tile roofs from that era. Downtown Chandler has some of the city’s older homes.
Homes from the boom years share common features: oak or maple cabinets, tile or laminate counters, cultured-marble vanity tops, fiberglass tub-showers, wall-to-wall carpet and builder-grade lighting. The good news is that these homes usually have sound structure and reasonable layouts, so most of a remodel budget goes into finishes and function you see every day.
Popular Chandler projects include full kitchen remodels with larger islands and quartz counters, primary bathroom remodels that replace a garden tub with a walk-in shower, retiling secondary bathrooms, and replacing carpet with one continuous hard floor through the first level.
Permits come from the City of Chandler for work that changes plumbing, electrical, gas or structure. Most master-planned communities have HOAs that review exterior changes, while interior remodels usually do not need approval. We completed a full home remodel in Chandler in 2019.
